Click here to check out more automotive repaiir tipsHolding your Nuts & Bolts

You have crawled underneath your automobile, you have your 10mm socket and ratchet in hand. Wow, that is tight here goes nothing, Oh man I dropped it #!!##$ where did it go? There it is! Second time same as the first, over and over again. Whoooo, finally I got it on. There is something that you can do to make this process much easier. When you have to get into a tight area that will not allow your fingers to guide the nut or bolt into place you can go to a store and pick up something called plumbers putty, window caulk, or butyl tape(it is cheap and if you go to a windshield shop you might be able to pick up scraps of butyl tape free if you ask). Take one of the above mentioned items and place a small dab into the socket and place the nut or bolt into the socket with it. This will make so that the nut or bolt will stay in the socket and when it is tight you will be able to pull away
leaving nothing but a little bit of the holding item on the nut or bolt. I work on automobiles a lot and always keep this stuff on hand it will save you time when doing repairs. And remember it is not limited to automotive repairs it will help anywhere when you need to get into a tight spot, this method will work where ever you would need to hold a nut or bolt. Stay tuned for more tips that will help you.
